We, World Citizens,
meeting in the Assembly on November 22, 2015 in
Ungersheim (France), strongly moved by the attacks in
Paris on Friday, November 13, express our
solidarity with the families mourning the loss of one of
their own, and with all those who are wounded in their
body or in their relationships. Our solidarity extends to
all victims of similar events that have recently taken
place in Brussels, Tunis, Beirut, Bamako or in the
sky of Sinai and are still taking place in many
countries where populations are subject to terror,
plunder, and contempt.
We denounce all forms of
fundamentalism, and any act of violence whatsoever
committed against persons or their property.
We are surprised by some
reactions where it is only a question of war, security,
emergency, bombing, loss of nationality , "barbarians" of
"impure blood [that] water our furrows
».
We regret the absence of
discussion on the economic interests with countries on
oil, arms sales, control of water, or other
issues.
We denounce the seeds of
violence that is in the misery of the greatest number
next to the abundance enjoyed by a minority of people on
Earth, pollution of the atmosphere, the water, grabbing
and wasting fossil energy resources and rare commodities,
the demographic explosion, monetary disorder.
We recall the preamble to the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states: "it
is essential that human rights should be protected by the
rule of law so that man is not forced, as a last resort,
to rebellion against tyranny and oppression."
We declare that peace and
freedom are fundamental rights.
We urge women and men of good
will from all backgrounds to act for the fundamental
rights of human beings to respected all over the world,
and not to give in to the manipulations and provocations
of power devices pursuing goals against their
interests.
We ask the politicians, heads
of states and governments to implement the necessary
structural reforms on the social and international level
so that people are protected and defended in their rights
and freedoms.
In the absence of democratic
institutions able to live up to the problems encountered,
we invite different stakeholders to meet and promote
dialogue, conduct discussions and to take concrete
actions against war and for peace, to seek peaceful
solutions to conflict situations that otherwise might
lead to a chain of disasters of which nobody can predict
the consequences.
