The Committee for the People's
Congress was created by the Brussels Congress held
from 3 to 5 May 1963. Its first meeting took place
in Paris on 23
May 1963. Having
remained informal for several years, the Committee
acquired legal personality under French law in 1969
to meet the needs of the first elections to the
People's Congress. Statutes filed on 2 June 1969 at
the Paris Police Prefecture. File No.

Aims
|
- education for citizenship and
democracy;
- the promotion of human rights, the culture
of Peace and Non-Violence;
- participation in and support for initiatives
aimed at advancing citizenship and democracy in
all areas of French social and political
life;
- the organization in France of meetings,
colloquiums, seminars and others;
- the invitation of non-residents to these
meetings;
- the production of reports, documents and
other publications;
- fundraising.

Role
|
Due to its seniority, its role and its action,
the Committee for the People's Congress has, in
fact, a role of structural accompaniment of the
People's Congress and of all the internal organs of
the People's Congress. It issues opinions on the
regularity of the acts of the People's Congress
(Assembly and Senate) and of the Registry of World
Citizens. It ensures the interims and takes the
necessary orders.
